I am delighted to be sitting outside (amongst the blackflies) in the fading evening sunshine of the day. I am definitely thankful that it is the weekend. It has been a long and busy school week. I do have school work (both Masters and classroom) to be working on this weekend. But, my plan is to get it done this evening as well as during the day tomorrow. Tomorrow is supposed to be the least enjoyable weather of the weekend, therefore I do not mind making it a chore day and a school work day. There is also the incentive to get my work done because Sunday and Monday are supposed to be really nice, and then we can enjoy them entirely!
Saturday evening we have plans to go to a friend's house for a bbq. We should be having THEM over for a thank you meal. They just gave us a beautiful solid oak entertainment center and want NOTHING in return. Wow, we feel so lucky to have such kind and generous friends!
Sunday, we are planning on going kayaking down the river with some friends (last weekend we bought kayak racks for my husband's SUV, with some wedding gift certificates)! Then later Sunday afternoon/evening we are going to my parents' house for a cookout.
Hopefully on Monday we are just relaxing and keep the day unscheduled. It will be a nice relaxing end to a fun-filled weekend and also a good way to start an anticipated CRAZY-busy week. I know that I have school events on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Then on Friday and Saturday evening next weekend is the dance recital for the studio that I teach at. PHEW, what a fun, BUSY time of year!

20 Days left
So, I am not sure why we say that the school year is "winding down" at this time of year. As a teacher, it feels as though EVERYTHING is happening all at once, and we are trying to jam it all in and then it will abruptly come to an end.
There are NWEA computerized tests, we have screenings, DRA's, and oh yeah, there is that thing called TEACHING, still trying to happen. There are field trips, bake sales, end of year PTA events, sporting events, award ceremonies, musical showcases, dance recitals, and oh so much more! But, to me it does not at all feel like it is winding down, it feels like everything is amping up to come to that distinct halt.
I am definitely feeling the stress of the season. I know that it will all happen, that it will all work out. But, will I make it through to the other side with my sanity still? That is questionable. Somehow I maintain my sanity each year, but I fear that one of these years... well, we'll just have to wait and see. I hope to see you on the other side. I guess you'll know after my post on June 22 (the students' last day).

Love and Marriage and all of the paperwork
So, as blissful as being newly married truly is... all of this paperwork stinks!! I am an overachiever, whom feels pressured to get it all done at once. We haven't even been married 2 weeks yet, and I have my new temporary license, all health insurance forms filled out, life insurance, dental insurance, and a plan to go to the Social Security office next week after school. Which is an inconvenience in and of itself, because it is over an hour away, and I will have to get out of school roughly an hour early in order to make it there before they close. Errr. Then, the next step I guess is my passport, (which just so happened to expire this year). Next up, switching our bank accounts and organizing the finance world. I think that one will be a bit of a challenge. Mostly I feel it is necessary to change all of the legal documentation before I fly in July.

I know it's cliche but... The HAPPIEST day of my life!!

Nik and I were enjoying a humorous toast from his little brother, Teddy, the best man. Teddy was commending me for "putting up with" all of Nik's friends for so many years and all of their shenanigans. It was so right on, that both of us, couldn't help but laugh whole-heartedly! What a wonderful day/evening. What a wonderful image to capture the essence of how we were both feeling on this momentous day... JOYOUS!! We have now just been married 12 days, and today is our 9 year (dating) anniversary. I feel blessed.
